Labor Day
Friday, April 25th, 2008So Amy and I are here in the delivery room. She is having some minor contractions already, but they will probably start her on some meds soon
I will be sending photos to flickr so keep checking back for updates.
Update: the delivery was very quick and Delaney arrived at 2:17am. Weighing 7lbs 10oz and 19 3/4″ long. We should be back home with baby on Sunday morning.
Thank you all for your prayers. I just posted some pics on flickr so check the link above.
Coming Soon…
Saturday, April 19th, 2008
Most of you have probably heard by now that Amy is being induced Friday April 25th. “But I don’t think you will make it until then” says her doctor. I too am guessing that Delaney will decide to get things rolling a little early - probably around 11 PM on Tuesday evening. We will find out very soon.
Papa’s Car
Saturday, April 19th, 2008This the phrase that we hear at least 10 times per day. Dylan loves his Papa, but he really, really loves papa’s Maytag Toy Racecar. My dad loves working on micro-cars and he rebuilt this one. Just recently my dad asked if we wouldn’t mind borrowing his car since they are out of garage space. And that is when Dylan fell in love with the car. We go on several rides per week (and on the weekends several times per day).
Burning Rubber (or how I almost killed my small group)
Thursday, April 17th, 2008So me and all the guys from my small group are driving out to Angels stadium the other night. Traffic is clear, and I’m doing 75-80 in the carpool lane when our Expedition starts jumping up and down wildly - kind of like when the freeway is bumpy but this was really bad. I start to slow down and BAM, thud, thud, thud. My right rear tire blows. Now I’m just trying to keep the car under control as its starting to weave back and forth. I have never experienced a blowout before, but luckily I was able to stay calm.
I don’t normally drive this car - Amy usually does. My first thought was thank God I was driving when this happened. I honestly felt like the car could have lost control and spun out - however large SUVs don’t spin out, they roll over - and it is often deadly.
I’m guessing all the cars behind us saw the whole thing happen, because they were all slowed down enough to let me get over to the slow lane and pull off on the next exit. Lucky for us there was a tire place right off the freeway, so I pulled right in.
It wasn’t until we got out of the car that we realized what had actually happened… Apparently the tread had completely separated from the tire. The sidewall was still intact and it still held air. This is exactly what happened to a lot of people that had bad Firestone tires on their Explorers a few years back. And I didn’t realize until I started researching tread separations, just how many SUVs do rollover from this, and how many people have died. I did not even realize at the time just how close we really came to meeting God.
Here a some pictures of the aftermath - as you can see a large chunk of rubber can do a lot of damage at high speed. The rear bumper is dented and scuffed up. The mud flap is wrecked, the tail pipe is loose. and the side of the car is scratched up. The running board is bent down and the door is scratched up.
Finally Blogging
Tuesday, April 15th, 2008Ok, so as you all know I (Kevin) am kinda new to this whole internet thingy. But I figured it was about time to start a family blog so we can keep you all up to date. I apologize in advance if its 2009 when you read this and it is only our third blog post. Please just tell me that Hillary is not president.
I promise we will try our best to keep this blog up to date with pictures and news.
